RAD Turns 40
“God, what I wouldn’t give to go ass-sliding with you right now.”
A few words about the 1986 BMX extravaganza sports-action flick Rad on this its 40th Anniversary. And I do mean a FEW words (hopefully less than 1,000 anyway). I learned my lesson last year about posting lengthy 4,000+ word tomes on my childhood guilty pleasures. Few people seem to read them, except those who are already in tank for the film in question. Plus, as far as guilty pleasures go, the movie Rad is far less known (and arguably less noteworthy) than Old John Rambo. So this celebratory post will largely consist of pics, video clips, and a few of those Kiddie Letterburched drawings I teased a month or so ago.
What is Rad, you ask? Well, it’s a very PG-rated sports movie about a teenage newspaper delivery boy and BMX enthusiast named Cru (Bill Allen) who spends his days popping wheelies, pulling bunny hops, and outrunning local law enforcement through lumber yards when he’s not delivering the morning edition of USA Today. Here, take a gander at how Cru outmaneuvers this pesky moto…
